Energy Minister Khurram Dastigar says that electricity will be fully restored within 12 hours. But it seems these are just so called justifications. The Load Shedding in Pakistan won’t be restored within the mentioned time. 

 The Ministry of Energy has said in a tweet on Monday that the system frequency of the National Grid decreased at 7:34 AM on Monday, which caused a widespread breakdown in the power system. “The work on the restoration of the system is going on rapidly.”

Orange line train service of Lahore is also closed due to power outage, while there is complete breakdown in various cities of the country including the federal capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Quetta.

Similarly, in a tweet from Islamabad Electric Supply Company (ISCO), it has been stated that the power supply to 117 stations of the grid is suspended, no clear reason has been given by the Region Control Center yet.  ISCO administration is in constant contact with the relevant authorities.

Talking to TV channel Geo News after the breakdown, Khurram Dastgir further said that at the time of power generation, each megawatt is looked at to see what effect it will have on the power tariff.

 “Due to lower demand in winter, most systems are switched off at night and switched on in the morning.”

 Giving details regarding the breakdown, he said that ‘today at seven o’clock when the systems were being turned on one by one, the breakdown occurred due to lack of frequency between Dadu and Jamshoro.’

 According to him, the system is being restored.  Some systems of Tarbela and Varsik have also been restored.

The recent updates are clarifying that it might take more than 27 hours to restore the power breakdown issue. It seems the authorities are silent and they thought power breakdown throughout the country is OKAY.
